Origin: PG [a word of Pre-Greek origin]
Etymology: Perh. from κίλλος `ass', with the suffix as in synonymous ὀκρίβας (cf. Schwyzer 448). On the meaning cf. e. g. ὄνος, ὀνίσκος `winch', Fr. chevalet `support', NHG. Esel, Bock `id.' etc. The suffix may be Pre-Greek; hardly from βαίνω.
